- Po slovesech enjoy, mind, avoid, finish, suggest, keep, can't stand, look forward to a po předložkách – tvar -ing.
- Po slovesech want, decide, hope, plan, agree, promise, refuse, would like, need – „to“ + sloveso.
- Po modálních slovesech a po „let/make“ – holý infinitiv bez „to“.
- Účel („abych“) vyjadřujeme pomocí „to“ + sloveso (I came to help).
