- Přítomný prostý: zvyky, pravdy, rozvrhy (every day, usually, always). Ve 3. os. j. č. přidáme -s/-es.
- Přítomný průběhový: děje probíhající právě teď nebo dočasně (now, at the moment, today). Tvar: am/is/are + -ing.
- Stavová slovesa (know, like, want, believe, need) se v průběhovém čase obvykle nepoužívají.
- Zápor a otázka v prostém čase: don't/doesn't, do/does + základní tvar slovesa.
