- Minulý čas prostý: ukončený děj v konkrétní minulé době (yesterday, last week, in 2010, ago).
- Předpřítomný čas (have/has + 3. tvar): zkušenost, výsledek nyní, děj trvající do teď (ever, never, already, yet, just, since, for).
- Minulý průběhový čas (was/were + -ing): děj probíhající v určité chvíli v minulosti, často přerušený jiným dějem.
